What a difference a smart thermostat makes
I upgraded from an ancient Honeywell dumb thermostat (only displayed Celsius). Wow, what a difference. I added 2 sensors since the thermostat is in a less traveled room. Set-up couldn't have been easier (very Apple-esque). The sensors report patterns of habitation and adjust the temp accordingly. The main unit looks great, very modern and sleek. iOS app is excellent as is the web portal.Installation tip (DIY'er, use at your own risk): I have a simple single stage AC, furnace. On the furnace, locate the control board. Focus on the wires that come from the thermostat (usually 4 wires - R, W, Y, G). If you are lucky, there will be 5 wires (one plugged into the C terminal - common). Ignore any other wires (I had 2, R and W which came from the AC unit and shared connections on the furnace board). Look for any extra wires which are part of the thermostat bundle that are unused (if you don't already have a common wire connected). The thermostat wire is a lot like a Cat 5 wire with multiple sub-wires of various colors, some unused). Pick one that is unused at the furnace and unused at the thermostat. Plug it into the common "C" port on the furnace and then into the C port on the thermostat. Instant "common" connection (this powers the unit rather than relying on batteries). Plug in the rest of the wires on the thermostat as directed by instructions on the ecobee site (usually straightforward, red to red etc). Done! If you don't have a common or any other unused wires in the bundle, you will need to use the adapter that comes with the thermostat. Also pretty straightforward (the adapter pulls power from the common connection and feeds it to the thermostat from the other, non-common wires). Very pleased. Great system.

Works great, simple to install
Works as described. Very intuitive, easy to set schedules and comfort levels. It was pretty simple to replace my old Honeywell with this Ecobee unit. I don’t understand the negative reviews about struggling to install it. You literally need a screwdriver and be able to read the very clear step by step instructions

Very good features!
This thermostat is excellent. It has a lot of features to help you program your days and nights. I especially love the "smart away" feature to help you save more energy when not at home. It's extremely easy to setup as well.

Works OK and nice looking
Much more attractive than the white Honeywell that it replaced. The Honeywell had become erratic at reaching the cooling set point so had to be replaced. However, the Honeywell user interface is slightly more user friendly - the features most frequently used were not buried as deeply in the menu structure as the Ecobee. For example, setting the fan behavior is easier on the Honeywell.that being said, the Ecobee is working well.

Ecobee Extended Smart Thermostat - works great!
Our Ecobee Extended Smart Thermostat replaced a Honeywell/Resideo T9 that never worked properly or consistently. It would lose connectivity to our wi-fi and Honeywell’s own servers once a week, so we constantly had to physically pull it off the wall to reset it and re-program it. After six months of this and a fruitless six months of once-a-week calls to Honeywell/Resideo tech support, we finally gave up and installed the Ecobee Extended Smart thermostat. Installation was simple. Setup and configuration were easy and quick. It is accurate and has not once lost connectivity. Very responsive through the Ecobee app and well as Apple’s HomeKit and Siri.

VERY DISAPPOINTED!! BAD PRODUCT! WARNING!
Very VERY disappointed! Bought 2 of these as I have 2 zones in the house. Looking forward to operating these remotely on my iPhone.Had them professionally installed. Worked well for about two months. Then the first one failed. Would not call for air conditioning at all. And it was not on the programming or wiring.Had HVAC guys come back and go over everything. $400 later they concluded it was broken. They put a Walmart $25 simple thermostat on it and works fine. Tested the ecobee on other wall locations and still won’t work. The second one was working fine for a couple more months then that one went too. NO HELP from customer service which is so automated with AI directing me to self learn online. When I have gotten a human ( took a long time ) …he was reading from a flow chart manual and seemed like a young kid with minimal experience. Nice enough but suggested having HVAC guys come back. I’m into Ecobee products for over $400 plus install and multiple service calls to the tune of over $1000. The worst is the poor customer support. No refunds as well !!!I’d like to be say it’s the internal wiring but I took them to another location and they still don’t work. Did I just get a bad batch ? That seems reasonable. But NO support. No refund. No replacement! Tired of A.I. and automated “support.”It’s the time lost and aggravations they deter me from ever recommending this product. HVAC company has 30 years experience. Strongly urged me to purchase Honeywell as they have minimal to no complaints. They often have issues with NEST and Ecobee. I took it a step further and asked sone electricians what they recommend and Honeywell was their choice. Live and learn. Do not buy this product. Do not expect support. So very very disappointed.

The best temp controller
Great for high efficiency ac/heat pump with Y1/Y2. Don’t waste your money on other “cool” controllers
